The apartment is next to all the shops you need to have a relax and convinient stay (supermarket, bakery, tavernas e.t.c).

The apartment is located behind the Cafe Kreta at the central square of Matala.

Matala is a suitable place for people who want to enjoy the sun and the sea throughout the day, exploring beautiful beaches and also the historical environment of Crete or stay late at night enjoying a drink with music by the sea.
Next to Matala is Red Beach, one of the best beaches in the world that you can visit by walking through a path that starts from a village.
Next to Matala (5km) is the beach of Komos. Long sandy beach that even in the summer you will never feel crowded.
On the same beach you will find nests by the turtle Caretta Caretta who returns to the area every year to lay her eggs.
For those who are interested in Cretan history, Phaistos (Minoan Palace), Agia Triada (Minoan Villa) and the ancient city of Gortys are very close to Matala.
The artificial caves in the cliff of the Matala bay were created in the Neolithic Age. Matala was the port of Phaistos during the Minoan period. In the year 220 BC., Matala was occupied by the Gortynians, and during the Roman period, Matala became the port of Gortys. In the 1st and 2nd centuries, the caves were used as tombs.
In the 1960s, the caves were occupied by hippies. Following the hippie period in Matala, the Matala Beach Festival has been established in recent years and takes place at the end of June.A time travel with a lot of music and other events next to the caves of Matala, on the edge of the sea.
